2011 Starex CVX VGT transmission problem

$

hi guys, our starex wasn't shifting from 1st gear anymore so we had our transmission "shift solenoid B" replaced (which was shown in the OBD scanner) and then after that it now shifts up but is jerking when shifting from netural to drive and also when upshifting as well as downshifting. Sometimes, it also gets stuck on 4th gear even on full stop it won't go back to 1st gear. Any idea where I should bring it and what to check? thanks :)

there is also a delay when shifting from reverse to drive and vice versa.

Help! Warning Lights for ABS and Parking Brakes

$

My car is a Toyota Altis 2009 model. But after around 10 minutes ko na naitatakob pauwi, umilaw ulit pareho ABS and parking brakes warning . Ano po kaya problem kung ganun?

Pa advise naman po.

Cebu City Govt and Uber integration

$

From Tommy Osmeñas FB:

A little experiment I’m trying in order to save taxpayer money:

Starting next week, the City Government will begin implementing Uber’s system to track the movement of government vehicles and personnel. This allows us make sure that they’re being used properly.

In addition, instead of buying more vehicles and hiring more personnel to drive them, the City Government will enter a trial period where government employees will travel using Grab at a discounted rate.

What this does is allow our personnel who need to go around the city (tax-mappers and sanitation inspectors for example) to not have to wait for a red-plate to become available. Instead, they can use the app to summon a vehicle just like any other person. Also, the use of the app will allow us to track their movements to make sure they’re actually doing their jobs.

I expect this to save us (or I should say, you) a lot of money. Under this program, there will be no more overpriced vehicles with “missing” spare parts. No more “sick” drivers being paid to do nothing. No more fuel stolen from gas tanks. No more red-plate vehicles used to bring employees’ families to the beach or mall. And since Uber and Grab are available to everyone, the prices charged to government can be made very transparent. Overpricing is next to impossible, and employees are tracked wherever they go.

The days of government employees abusing taxpayer-owned vehicles are finally Uber :D

Second hand explorer, fj cruiser or prado

Hi guys. Been contemplating lately especially with the excise tax looming and its possible effects on the second hand market. Which kaya would be a better buy between :

a used explorer 2013 up which costs abt 1.2-1.5m

Vs

a used or brandnew fj cruiser (1.4m to 1.9m)

Vs

a used 2010 up gas prado (1.8m to 2.2m)

Factors to consider is road presence (babaw sorry hehe tipong di mabubully and presentable sa clients), Comfort on highway and ease of use in the city streets and mall parking. I may keep the car for five years or forever.

Which would be a better compromise or which between the 3 has perfect balance of their respective qualitites?

Im single and rides solo 90% of the time would be daily driven by me 90% of the time.

Would it seem a downgrade to sell my 2013 ranger which i got brandnew for the above mentioned cars ( has more “pedigree” but second hand)? My ranger has been loyal and got no issues but has become tiring to drive especially this past year.

Please discuss and enlighten if you may.

Sunbloc Tint

I was able to have the car tinted today at RoadFit. Their service was excellent. The tinting facility is very clean and airconditioned. It gives you the impression that they will take care of your car. I was a bit late but they were very accommodating.

I got the Sunbloc Non Plus for my CR-V with VLT 20. UV and IRR rejection are both 100% The tint installation took about 2 hours since my car doesn't have an old tint on it. So far, the night time visibility is great. I hope it will be sunny tomorrow to test out the heat rejection. [emoji3]

I will update this thread as the time progresses. The tint is still curing anyway.

If you're going to have your car tinted at RoadFit, ask for a demo. They have a demo facility on their tints. I was impressed with the heat rejection.

Are there any local companies doing this, both for existing and/or to be built structures?

We're looking into doing it in house, but it seems there's a learning curve in using the more advanced survey/heatmap software.

End of the Automotive Era?

Bob Lutz: Kiss the good times goodbye | Automotive News
by Bob Lutz Nov. 5, 2017

Quote:

It saddens me to say it, but we are approaching the end of the automotive era.

The auto industry is on an accelerating change curve. For hundreds of years, the horse was the prime mover of humans and for the past 120 years it has been the automobile.

Now we are approaching the end of the line for the automobile because travel will be in standardized modules.

The end state will be the fully autonomous module with no capability for the driver to exercise command. You will call for it, it will arrive at your location, you'll get in, input your destination and go to the freeway.

On the freeway, it will merge seamlessly into a stream of other modules traveling at 120, 150 mph. The speed doesn't matter. You have a blending of rail-type with individual transportation.

Then, as you approach your exit, your module will enter deceleration lanes, exit and go to your final destination. You will be billed for the transportation. You will enter your credit card number or your thumbprint or whatever it will be then. The module will take off and go to its collection point, ready for the next person to call.

Most of these standardized modules will be purchased and owned by the Ubers and Lyfts and God knows what other companies that will enter the transportation business in the future.

A minority of individuals may elect to have personalized modules sitting at home so they can leave their vacation stuff and the kids' soccer gear in them. They'll still want that convenience.

The vehicles, however, will no longer be driven by humans because in 15 to 20 years — at the latest — human-driven vehicles will be legislated off the highways.

I'm honestly not expecting the local Mirage to change since it's part of the CARS program...

But maybe Mitsubishi can find a way to bring the new model to our market.
